The recent statics comparing the various Social Media sites show that Facebook continues to lead the Social Media space with 60% of market share worldwide. Launched in 2004, Facebook has 742,200,740 globally and has the highest penetration of the global population.

At 28%, StumbleUpon, a discovery engine that has been in operation since 2001, is the only other comparable site. And while SU has gained popularity in the USA and parts of Australia and Europe, it has a long way to go in terms of building its market globally.
Other social networking sites YouTube, Twitter and reddit, though each have a market globally, the total market share is a paltry 6%, 3% and 2% respectively.Digg and MySpace hold less than a percent each.
