YouTube Gets Pimped

YouTube recently made an announcement that they are going to apply some changes to its interface to enhance the way users manage and play around with video content.

A part of the pimp is including a new end-screen that shows up after watching a video that makes getting to the next video a lot easier.  You can choose what to play from the tiles of thumbnails instead of the traditional way of browsing through the channel or scrolling over the videos on the right pane.

Another improvement is done with the playlist bar. It now has bigger thumbnails, more distinct previous, play, forward and shuffle buttons.

The YouTube Charts page has also been updated. This is a pretty good news to people who want to keep track of the most recent and best videos on YouTube. Users can browse through the videos that gathered the most views, likes and the top favourite videos of the day, the week, a particular month and of all time.

YouTube has partnered up with WeVideo to provide its users better ways to edit videos. WeVideo is a cloud-based editing platform which is very simple to use and uniquely collaborative.

One of the new tweaks on YouTube is it’s now localized in more countries. Recently added countries are the Philippines, Singapore and Kenya.  Users from these countries can now start to see what the popular videos are in their countries.

With YouTube’s ease of use after its recent update, I am pretty sure more users will be more engaged with their platform.  Now that WeVideo is available within YouTube, users will no longer have to edit videos through a third party app and will save them time from searching for some freeware low-quality video editing software. I remember an old saying that “A small change can make a huge difference”, and I think it applies here.
